Hello families
This is uncharted territory. We launch some teaching and learning methods today that are directly in line with Government requirements, however as this is so different, please take your time and ease into these suggested learning and daily routine procedures. We acknowledge that our families are going through significant change and indeed many who are doing it quite tough. If our school and staff can be of any assistance through the coming months, please consider reaching out to us as we may be able to help in some way.
Yesterday, Premier Gladys Berejiklian has asked parents to keep their children at home from today. Schools will remain open for families that have no option but to send their child to school because they are working.
“Because nearly 30% of children are already being kept out of school, for practical reasons NSW is encouraging parents to keep their children at home.” Ms Berejiklian
Yesterday, students in attendance at Lake Cathie Public School received a “Learning Online Starter Pack”. Attached to this post are the same documents contained in that pack. Please look through and make decisions based on your family’s current needs. What is most important now is to be calm in your connections with your children. Reassure them. Yes, things will be different. Reassure them that you will do everything to keep them safe. Our kids will undoubtedly remember this as part of their history, what they will remember most is how they felt. We can directly influence that. We can all work together to make sure that they feel safe, supported and reassured.
This uncertainty is also encompassing our staff and their own families and we also ask for your mutual understanding while our staff transition towards this new style of learning.
