Student opportunities and activities
At Lake Cathie Public School, we offer a variety of programs in the classroom and across the school to help students build new skills, make friends and explore new interests.
Our programs may include:

Our extra-curricular highlights
Creative and performing arts
Our dance, band and choir programs help students be creative and express themselves. Opportunities to attend band camp, to perform at community concerts, eisteddfods and showcases arise throughout the year.
Band
Students from Year 3 to Year 6 can request entry to the extracurricular instrumental music and band program.
Band is a HPGE - High Potential, Gifted Education opportunity.
Choir
Students from Year 3 to Year 6 have the opportunity to be involved with the school choir group and perform at festivals and community events.
Enrichment dance groups
Students have the opportunity to be involved with the enrichment dance groups and perform at dance festivals and eisteddfods.
Dance is a HPGE opportunity.
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Incursions and excursions
Students are given the opportunity to attend educational incursions and excursions during the year.
Robotics
Students have the opportunity to be involved with the school robotics group which participates at the First Lego League competition.
Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA)
Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) provides opportunities for primary students to participate in competitive sport at district level and above.
